Yes, no one calls a home run like Harry.
Sports Illustrated did a little column of Q&A with the man who replaced John Facenda at NFL Films.

To be picky, Kalas is not getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. Neither was Caray or Vin Scully. Kalas and the other announcers won the Ford Fricke award. Which is given to a broadcaster every single year since 1978. Winners are not hall of fame members though.

          RE: Hooray for Harry!

There is no broadcaster wing of the hall of fame. Check out the official web site of the Hall of Fame. On that site they have a section for Ford Frick awards and they explain what that means exactly. In fact they specifically state that Ford Frick winners are not inductees just award winners. They get there name listed in an exhibit about broadcasters. But there are no broadcasters enshrined as broadcasters in the Hall.

Isn't he the guy who was the voice of This Week in Baseball? I loved that show when I was a kid!

He also did NFL Films and I believe he did some of those football themed Campbell soup commercials. I cant remember ever listening to a Phillies game without Harry Kalis calling the play by play, I hate when he leaves in the fourth but love it when he's back in the seventh. I went up to cooperstown last year and saw Harry's Plaque, that was one of the things there I wanted to see the most.

                    Harry the K

Harry and Richie were the BEST!!
They made many late night games worth staying up for.
Remember this? "The big lefthander leans in for the sign, 2 outs, bases loaded, Carlton winds and throws, Strrrike 3 game over Super Steve wins again"

I fear those days are gone. Who can ever replace them?

they appear to be long gone...Gillick appears to have really misjudged the pitching.. I was worried about going into the year....looking for Lieber and Lidle to lead the staff was really iffy...and now their best one is slapping his wife around....and Wolfe is hurt again....could be a long year...
