  • Phillies Make Historic Move, Sign Franklin

Unbelievable news.... Gillick reportedly said, "...we expect Franklin to bring ELECTRICITY...to the clubhouse....his LIGHTNING fast fastball....a KEY to the '06 Phils' hopes..."

Hell, at least old Ben gets to finally be buried here in Philly where he belongs.... Do you think the Phils will adopt his black and white uni or stay with the red pinstripes?

With this news the rest of the East should just go fly a kite. Franklin will have the rest quaking in their cleats.

Makes me wonder just how many of those "benjamins" this Franklin guy will actually earn.

Sounds like Gillick is starting to resemble the Liberty Bell: He's cracked.

Signing Franklin was Gillick's way of shoving his finger down the throats of Phillies fans so they could lose their lunch like Paris Hilton after a banquet.

Speaking of puking you should see the headline on the Phillies website, first theres one that says "Phillies Shore Up Starting Staff With Franklin" and another one that says "Solid at Top, Phils Hope for Depth in Rotation".

Signing Ryan Frankling shores up the rotation?
Solid at top? HAHA Lieber, Myers and Lidle, what a BIG 3. They would be great 3rd, 4th and 5th starters to have or even good 2nd, 3rd or 4th starters.

He's nuts. The loser took 'roids last season and still stunk.
Not a very good pickup, upgrade over Padilla though.

                I'd rather have Padilla.

What scares me is the whole "everybody must drink the koolaid" mentality in the Phillies organization.
The Phillies follow the same lamebrain script every year and damn themselves and us to "competitive" mediocrity.
Don Block is right if they start playing to empty seats in CBP it will compel Giles to sell the team.

Padilla, went 51-51 (779 innings) for a team that didn't win 89+ games in any season over the last 6 years.
Franklin went 35-50 (811 innings) for a team that won 90+ games 3 seasons and 116 games in the fourth out of six seasons he pitched including a putrid 12-31 over the last 2 seasons while Padilla went 16-19.
I'm not seeing him as an upgrade.
Besides if they traded a 27 year old Padilla for being inconsistent especially in the last two seasons what could they possibly see in the 32 year old Franklinstein?
