  • Phillies Players team Debuts in 2018

It looks like it will be a below average year for team debuts as the team's roster appears failry stable so far.

1946 to 2017: Average of a little less than 16 new players per year.
2013 to 2017: Average of a whopping 24.6 new players per year.

It's so sad the Phillies didn't bring up Cole Irvin to make his MLB debut in 2018. He went 14-4 with a league-leading 2.57 e.r.a. and was widely considered the best control pitcher in the (AAA) International league.

Pitchers Enyel De Los Santos and Ranger Suarez (both age 22) both earned victories in their major league debuts in July. Both were called up to make one/off spot starts before being returned to the minors. RHP De Los Santos debuted and got the win in his July 10 debut. He also earned a second start on July 15 (No Decision) before being returned to the minors. LHP, Suarez won his July 26 MLB debut also.

I would have thought Carlos Santana debuted around 2006.
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”

Carlos Santana's MLB Debjut was on June 11, 2010. He might seem like he's been around longer than that because rarely misses games. For the seven seasons From 2011 to 2017 Santana played in 1,068 games ....an average of nearly 153 games per season.
