December 2: Regrettably The Phillies Non-tendered outstanding second baseman Cesar Hernandez, 29 (a .275 career hitter ,with two seasons in the .290s and increasing his HR totals from the single figures to about 15 HR per season.) and not so regrettably they did the same with third baseman Maikel Franco, 27 (a 240ish career hitter, who never hit more than 25 HR in any season which was a a disappointing power total, with increasing strikeout frequency and declining batting average each season) .

December 4: The Phillies sign RHP Free Agent, Zack Wheeler on a three-year contract, but they lose out to Atlanta in the bidding for Free Agent LHP Cole Hamels. There will be no Hamels & Phillies reunion in 2020, but the Braves deal for Hamels is only a one-year contract. I still have hopes that Hamels will finish out his career as a Phillie. He will be 36 next season. Going into the 2020 season Hamels needs to average 13 Wins and 148 Strikeouts over the next three years to reach the 200 Wins and 3,000 Strikeouts Milestones by the end of the 2022 season.

December 6: Happy 74th birthday to current Phillies Front Office advisor and former manager and Phillies shortstop, Larry Bowa, who had over 2,191 base hits in his 16 year career as a player (1970 to 1985), the first 12 years of which were as a Phillie. He is a Phillies Wall Of Famer. Bowa made five national league all-star teams. He has the highest percentage of Singles to Hits any modern day player: 1940 to present.
