Kline's Resurrection From The Scrap Heap

Steve Kline was certainly one of the majors' best relief pitchers not that long ago. He was probably mishandled at his last MLB stop and the Phillies have the chance to get him back on track again. If he's still down in the minors at Lehigh Valley and not pitching for the Phillies in about two weeks (by May 10), I'll be very surprised.

Pat Gillick has made yet another blockbuster signing that has the baseball world buzzing. Last week, as everyone and their mothers know, Gillick announced the signing of the savior himself, Rudy Seanez. That move made the Phils the prohibitive favorite to win the NL pennant. Just as everyone was beginning to digest the shock of that move, Gillick has made a move that makes the Phils, not only the pennant favorites, but the World Series favorites as well. The man to bring home the World Series to Philadelphia this year is surefire future Hall of Famer Steve Kline!

The Mets may have traded for Johan Santana, but Gillick and this ownership group that is so committed to winning has the last laugh! Step aside Mets, Yanks, BoSox and other pretenders to the throne. Kris Benson, Rudy Seanez and Steve Kline will bring the Phillies to the promised land!

The thought of seeing Benson, Seanez, and Kline--all three of them--in Phillies' pinstripes gives me the chills and the rest of the league at least a pause. I can recall seeing this much excitement in these parts only when the Phillies acquired whatshisname? The acquisition of this triumvirate signals to the rest of baseball that a paradigm shift has occurred in Phillieland. The old order hath not left us but it hath changeth. We are now witnething a thingularity. Verily, we are blethed.
