  • Brett Myers

After witnessing last night's latest debacle by Mr. Myers, I am convinced that now is time for the Phils to trade this stiff. Giving up 8 runs in 4 innings is unacceptable for any pitcher, let alone for a supposed "ace". He is, at best, a number 3 starter for a last place team. Myers has always been overrated and, lets face it, he was overrated as a closer last year. This guy should have been shown the door 2 years ago after the domestic dispute issue, but the Phils rewarded him with a contract extension. Trade him while you can get something for him, like a used water cooler.

    Nobody would want him

That gives us a #1, a #3, #4 and a pair of fives. All in.

Can't agree more about being overrated as a closer. I don't think he's overrated in general, however, just a perpetual undercheiver.

Was talking about this with a buddy at work yesterday, and he kinda gets the same impression that I do, that Myers is just flubbing it on purpose to try to spark a move out of the rotation or away from the team. I could be wrong, but he fits the type who just wouldn't give a crap about his success so long as he's still being paid, and he'll still get that money sitting it the bullpen and have to work less. He is wrong, however, if he thinks he can move Lidge as closer right now.

Several games ago, there was good ol' boy Brett standing in the dugout with his arm around good ol' boy Chuck. The cameraman ate up this beautiful lovefest. Chris Wheeler pronounced them something or other, and a beautiful time was had by all. I guess it's only a matter of time before Brett gets hauled in for manager beating. Or Charlie gets hauled in for pitcher beating. More likely the second. Charlie has been mauling his pitchers ever since he arrived.

I heard that he was only trying to help them up.
