He mentions that both Victorino and Pence couldn't perform when thrown into the position of making up for not having Ryan and Chase early on. He understands they're not that type of player, but changes needed to be done. The $14-$15M pricetag that Hunter is likely to receive this offseason cripples anything else Ruben might be able to do. He apparently talke to Shane's agent and, though he won't go into details, it sounds like Victorino wants a nice payday.
