  • Aumont is 1,000th Post-World War Two Era player to make Phillies Team Debut

By my count, Philippe Aumont became the 1,000th player to make his Phillies Team Debut in the Post-World War Two Era (which began on Opening Day 1946 (4/16/46).
He is the 1,033rd player to play for the Phillies since that date. However, that number includes the 33 players who played part of their careers for the team from 1946 onwards, but debuted with the team earlier, either before or during World War Two. (1945 or earlier). I call these 33 players carry-over players or transitional players who played both in the Post War Era and also prior to that era for the Phillies. Aumont is the 1,000th to begin his Phillies career in 1946 or later.
Aumont pitched a scoreless eighth inning last night against Cincinnati, retiring 3 of the 4 batters he faced, allowing only a walk, in a game the Phillies eventually won in extra innings.
Vance Worley was the 1,000th overall Phillies player in the Post-War Era (967th to debut in that era) when he made his Phillies & MLB debut on 7/24/2010.
