  • Matt Morris

I fully understand no one in their right mind throws away 10 million dollars. But why keep starting him. Dont you think that we should send some sort of a message that we dont care how much you make you dont perform sit on the bench. Will he just keep starting? At what point do you pull the plug?

The money was thrown away the day you took on his salary. Whether you pitch him or not doesn't change that. If you have a kid down at AAA who can do better the cost is just the kid's salary which is probably the major league minimum.

If Pittsburgh is going to take on a huge salary, why did they take Morris? May as well be somebody that is good. Another Littlefield blunder.

And that's an understatement. The Morris deal was a disaster. The Giants were willing to take on some of the salary. I know some Pittsburgh fans who think Littlefield knew he was on his way out and did this to screw the team up as much as he could. There's no sound baseball or financial logic behind it.

Another stellar outing from Mr Morris tonight. 1.2 IP, 6 hits, 6 runs. Surely he's done now, or are the Pirates front office really inept enough to send him out there again?

Look at the bright side. Only 3 of the runs were earned and his ERA is still under 10 at 9.47.

Matt Morris was released today, and to make room for the vacated roster spot, they recalled RHP John Van Benschoten from Triple-A Indianapolis.

                About time or about time?

I would've moved Morris to the Bullpen. No sense spending that much $$ to not pitch. He and Dumatrait would just switch places. Van Benschoten has had numerous opportunities to prove he's worthy of the Majors, and has failed each time. I have no reason to believe this time will be any different. That $10 mil could've gone a long way toward development and scouting, and I really don't think Nutting has an extra $10 mil lying somewhere he would spend on that.
