  • Trip to PNC coming up

A buddy and I are coming into Pittsburgh for the Saturday night game against the Cubs on Memorial Day weekend, and I'm looking to find out where locals (or expats, as it may apply) would recommend as a place to stay. Also looking to find out what the situation is with parking and such at the stadium, as I know fans tend to give the real scoop rather than what you see on the team website. All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

i went in 01 & stayed in a hotel downtown ( really close to the Mellon Arena )...cant help you with parking questions as i walked BUT they close the Clemente bridge about 2 hours before game time for folk to walk over it...it was only a 15 min walk from my hotel to the park
BALLGAME OVER, YANKEES WIN...THEEEEEEEEEEEE YANKEES WIN

How much are you willing to spend on a hotel? If "sky's the limit" ($150+ per night) I would recommend Spring Hill Suites just on the other side of General Robinson St. from the ballpark. That would also take care of parking since parking is included with the cost of the room. If you're budget is $100 give or take, I'd recommend Greentree just beyond the Fort Pitt tunnel. There's a holiday inn, best western, and radisson. Monroeville also has numerous hotels, and it's just off the PA turnpike, but about 10 miles from downtown and the ballpark. As for parking, there's a parking garage on 6th st that has a $5 weekend rate. Park there and walk across the Clemente Bridge to the ballpark. Parking on the North Side is plentiful, you'd pay $20 for the lot closest to the ballpark, or park in the lots closest to Heinz Field for $10.

I traveled from Columbus to Pittsburgh last August for the Reds series there. We stayed in the Hampton Inn in Green Tree which was very close and convenient, but it was also about $125 a night. I would look to either Monroeville or Washington (30 miles south of downtown) for more affordable lodging. We parked next to Heinz Field for $10.
