That one looks good to me. I might consider Santiago at catcher. But Haller is a good choice.
I am not sure at SS. So I'll go with your choice. Who else is there?
I almost wish I could have two 1bmen so I could have Clark, too. But my first choice is McCovey.
    The rest are no brainers.

Welcome back ARod. Hope you are a Yankee forever.

Haller's the only decent Giants' catcher that played a good portion of his career with the Giants.

The only other possible choice in Chris Spier. But Richie had five solid seasons.

I love Will Clark! But there is no way he was better than Stretch. Even Clark's '89 season wasn't quite as good as Willie's '69 season. Plus, if I did choose Will the Thrill over Stretch, WCOB and KHenry14 would beat me up then ban me.

Oh, I agree that Stretch should be the first choice. I wouldn't mind Clark either.

          You've got that right Wags!!!

I would only quibble with Haller. I never thought he was that good, I'd rather have Benito or Brenly. But that just shows that catcher has never been a strong point for the G-Men.

And it's a darn shame that the Thrill isn't on that team, as he sure earned that right.

My only quibbles are at starting pitcher:

            SP-Russ Ortiz
            SP-Vida Blue

Vida's best years were in Oakland weren't they? Lot's of other pitchers to choose from if you can have them at their peak, heck I'd rather the Cain now than the historical Blue in Orange.

Can't help but think we can do better than Ortiz?

I checked and after the top three this is no one in S.F. history that had four consecutive solid seasons like Ortiz. Ortiz was never a superstar. But pitchers like Mike McCormick and Ron Bryant, who had Cy Young caliber seasons, also had really poor seasons as well. Blue had some quality seasons with the Giants as well.

I have to agree with this. Except for the obvious pitchers, we've had a succession of one season wonders, like McCormick, Bryant, Billy Swift, even Kruk. But not another consistant performer like Ortiz was.

                    WCOB,

Did Bobby play RF? I didn't know that. For some reason I thought he played CF and LF.

                      KH,

I've read Bryant had a serious back injury diving off a diving board that basically ruined his career after his 24-12 season in '73. What's the scoop on that?

With his arm,RF was best for him.

Now maybe if Clark were a Mattingly, type with the glove (and no he wasn't quite that level), then me would have a better claim, but McCovey's Peak and Longevity beat out anything that Clark ever put up.

For some reason I thought Bobby played more LF. I guess I got Bobby confused with Barry.
