Cain and Lincecum are studs. If the Giants can get Zito uncorked to even halfway resemble a $126 million man, they would have a staff that rivals the best in recent memory. Are they the modern equivalent of the Go-Go Sox who won the pennant with pitching and speed? Not likely, as the speed is missing. They do, indeed, need a big bat, but were unwilling to give up one of their best pitchers to obtain one. I don't blame them. Cain and Lincecum are true stoppers and power hitters are far more common than the talents either of these two guys bring to the table. Take heart. Odds are, you will pick someone up before too long that has some above-average pop who will help. That may not happen until it becomes all too obvious one is sorely needed, however. Do I hope that happens? No. But it's probably inevitable.

Thanks for allowing me to crash your party for a moment.

There is some speed, they just aren't playing yet! Davis, Lewis and especially Velez can all really run, but they can't seem to crack the lineup yet. But by the ASG when the Giants are out of the race I expect we wont be seeing as much of Roberts, Aurellia, Winn, and Castillo.

    Matt Williams?

I guess we have to wait for Angel Villalona to get you to AT&T Park. Do we really have to wait until 2010? Do you know if he is starting the '08 season at San Jose or Salem-Keizer? I checked both team websites and their 2008 roster sections are both "Under Construction".

Overall the pitching looks decent. but the offense...Oh my...Where is the power going to come from? Is this the year where someone leads the team with like 17 HRs?
