    tuesday night 8:00 game at the ‘stick
    going into bottom of the 9th it’s pirates over giants, 7-1

    then the freakiness happens.

    right fielder bobby bonds walks.
    second baseman tito fuentes hits into a 2b-ss fielder’s choice. 1 out.
    shortstop chris speier hits into a ss-2b fielder’s choice. 2 outs.
    first baseman willie mccovey walks. speier to second.
    third baseman ed goodson walks to load the bases.
    chris arnold pinch-hits for center fielder gary thomasson (who earlier had hit a home run in the 5th inning, touches ‘em all with a grand slam home run to close it to 7-5, pirates.

    ramon hernandez replaces bob moose on the mound.

    left fielder gary matthews spanks a double.
    catcher dave rader walks. matthews to second.
    jim howarth pinch-hits for pitcher elias sosa and walks. bases juiced.

    dave giusti replaces hernandez

    bobby bonds rips a bases-clearing, game-winning, unforgettable double.
    giants 8, pirates 7 is the final.

        I had friends attend that game
        1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

          no, i was not in attandance that night, wags.
          that certainly is one that i wish i had in my scorebooks!

          but even attending just a handful of games last season i have been to 1,997 home giant games.
