  • More giants history made in 2012

Today the Giants completed a 3 game sweep of the Dodgers and shut out the Dodgers all 3 games

this is the first time ever the Giants shut out the Dodgers in a 3 game series, and the first vs anyone since April 1954

they also beat their nemesis Kershaw last night and are 2-0 vs him this year

oh ya, the Giants have erased a 7.5 game Dodger lead in less than a month
    1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

I would venture to say the Giants have better players in 6 of the 8 positions, without Kemp 7 of 8

and a much better pitching staff

plus watch out Lincecum has 12 consecutive scoreless innings

if he goes back to Lincecum they will have 4 #1 starters

Vogelsong is light years better than J Sanchez (2010 WS starter)

Scary thing is they have Madison Bumgarner and Matt Cain pitching tommorow and Friday. Possible 5 shutouts in a row.

The Dodgers offense has been weak all season, even with Kemp there. He was really the only one hitting during their winning period - apart from from a period when Ethier showed some form with the bat. Ethier is now swinging like a rusty gate in a gale. They have not really scored many runs at all, and to be blanked in 30 straight innings is just pathetic. They were also blanked by Oakland during this road trip. They cannot hope to win games without a hitter, and with the Mets and Reds coming to town followed by a road trip to Arizona, the Dodgers will more than likely be in 3rd place in the division by AS break. Hate to say it Roy but your previous thread about the Dodgers may have been on the money. I thought when they showed some guts against the Chisox that they were the real deal, but I have serious doubts after this woeful road trip. :o

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

well losing Kemp is really unfair, he is a great great player

but they are really below average at many positions

Just like in 2010, the Giants are going to be that team that nobody wants to face come playoff time.

Good thing Ethier is going to get $15 million a year starting next year. Special Ned can't be fired soon enough.

He was able to mask his horrific roster construction because of 2 elite players. Now that one has been out 6 weeks it shows just how awful the rest of the roster is. Below average at 1B, SS, 3B, LF. Their only above average positions are CF (with Kemp) and C. Maybe Ethier is a little above average in RF. Herrera is average at 2B, when they use him there.

The pitching staff is strong, but you can only win so many 2-1 and 3-2 games before the lack of offense catches up to you.

Dodgers have lost 8-of-their-last-9 games, including six-in-a-row in the Bay Area in which they scored a meager 2 runs in 54 innings.

to add insult to injury, sfgate.com reports the associated press stated the dodgers equipment truck was seen broken down on the freeway on the way to SFO

at least you've identified the reason the Dodgers didn't bring their bats.

Are you sure it wasn't hijacked or abandoned on the way to Oakland?

Well make it 4 (shutouts) in a row, which is an all time franchise record

Madison Bumgarner pitched a CG 1 hit shutout vs the Division leading Reds, defeating red-hot Johnny Cueto 5-0

It was Bum's first career shutout and gave hm 10 wins for the season
