What I meant is that my dad didn't like that the Cards got rid of Simmons and brought in Porter to replace him. Simmons was a switch hitter in the middle of lineup which would have worked out for Whitey but Whitey coached Porter in KC and felt like he needed a voice in the locker room to get the players to believe in his system which is why he brought Porter in and traded away Simmons.

I mean, of course Simmons > Porter...

But Porter was a well- above average catcher in STL from 1981-1985.

How is that for riding the fence?

Probably an endless debate due to one being great offensively and not too shabby defensively and the other one being great defensively and not too shabby offensively.

Frisch can backup at third as well and is a defensive replacement at second. Sutter does have his number retired with the Cardinals. So many good players left off including a few HOFers.

    Lineup
    Brock
    Pujols
    Musial
    Hornsby
    Edmonds
    Boyer
    Simmons
    Smith
Ad Role and drop one of these easily replaceable relievers.

Wainwright has to be on the staff.

Chuck Taylor??? I had to check BBR, I do barely remember him. 3 seasons, nothing remarkable. How about Sutter, Lee Smith, Jason Isringhausen, Trevor Rosenthal...For a LHRP I'd go with Al Brazile or Joe Hoerner over Hrabosky. Also John Tudor has to be a starter. I'd have Stan in RF, love to have him and Albert in the lineup. Maybe Frisch as utility infielder, drop Marion.

Good list overall. If I am trying to win - I'd take out some of these relievers and replace with better pitchers who were starters, say like Carpenter and Cooper and Warneke, etc. I would probably flip one of these guys with Haines. Even considering relievers - hard to leave off Sutter.

I would definitely put Frisch in over Red. I would also put Mize in at 1B, switch Stan to LF and drop Medwick as Mize > Medwick. There is no way I don't get Mize on this team.

Hard to argue too hard about the other results.
