I'll take a 1-2 start vs. the Mets on the road vs. that staff to start the season anyday.

Nice win vs the Brewers. Wonder with mlb.com shutting down their forums if anybody will come here or where will they go?

Eh. Wasn't too hopeful about a Ray vs. Waino matchup from the outset.

Does Waino have it anymore as a starter?

Maybe as a 5th starter. But he is no longer a 1-3. The issue isn't that he is straight trash. the issue is we have much better available options.

Some out there thinks that he straight trash but maybe it's just age and injury that caught up to him. The Cards really want Reyes to come back strong so they could go with a rotation of Martinez, Wacha, Weaver, Flaherty, and Reyes. All 5 starters in their 20s.

How do you start to describe this silly mess. The only reason Matheny is not being booed out of the building is because Cardinal marketing has replaced all the knowledgeable fans with people who go to the ballpark to make selfies and eat dinner at the concession stands..

They have no pinch hitters, no pinch runners, no emergence replacements. Going into the tenth, the bench is empty.

The bullpen is denied a blown-save opportunity because MM leaves the starter in until they are already behind, instead of yanking him while he is pitching a shutout (Flaherty, Weaver). Along comes the new closer, to talk four in ninth. Rosenthal no longer needed for that purpose.

Never mind that they went through six only a run behind, and then in the 7th and 8th, never put a single ball in play. The Brew manager even did them the favor of taking out hisi pitcher after he struck out four in a row, and the Cards next two batter went ahead and struck out anyway.

So we have a game in which Cardinal batters struck out six times in a row, and a Cardinal pitcher walked four batters in a row. How many games do you win, like that?

Most of the players must understand how stupidly this ship is being steered into an iceberg. Why don't they mutiny?

                  Pham has tried.

Matheny's bullpen/staff management has been absolutely horrific since day one. It was overlooked when they made the playoffs every year. now, you are starting to hear even some of the local Cardinals yesmen going after him.

This will be his last year if they miss the playoffs.

This is a good time to remind everyone that the Cubs, Indians, Yankees, and Dodgers are all .500 or lower. the Pirates look great.

Very little, if any of this, is predictive going forward. This lineup is very deep and the bullpen has the makeup (once everyone is healthy) to be fantastic. The staff will be very good too once the right guys are in place (sorry Waino).

At one point tonight, 9 out of 12 Cardinal batters reached base. And they scored 1 run.

Things tough enough without the umps/NY screwing the Birds out of getting the tying run on base in the 10th.

IDK about that. In these days the FO wants to run things and make the manager just be like a puppet. We had a chance to bring in Francona they said but Mo didn't want another TLR type. Girardi is out there right now.

In other news. McGwire said he didn't need PED's to hit 70 homers but he/we will never know because he took them none the less.

DeWitt might not care that the internet sites and analytical nerds have been hating MM for years. but the Gas Station crowd's dissent is growing exponentially. he can only survive that for so long.
