I am sure you have seen all the Cardinal fans talking about it on the other threads...it isn't like we are hiding. Actually, the people on BBF that seem the most upset about the deal are Angels fans.

This ship has sailed...now lets see who we can get for the middle IF...

I don't believe that most Cardinals fans feel any or much animus towards Pujols. Therefore, other than shock and dismay, there's not a lot to write about. St. Louis fans are some of the most knowledgeable in all of sports. They know that this is how the business of baseball, for better or for worse, functions these days. In the baseball sense, it's a tragedy to see Pujols leave, but on the grand scheme of things a lot worse has transpired in most of our lives.

Pujols' wife is saying that they were given a 5 year offer (possibly after a retraction of a 9 year contract), and they felt insulted. Any thoughts on the matter?

I'd be insulted too...well, I wouldn't have stayed at least. Everybody else wanting you more makes it very tough to stay at any job.

I'll weight in on this as well. Good for Albert. He was great for St. Louis and our community. It makes me sick to think that he is no longer a Cardinal. I'd rather think of Albert and his contributions than be angry that we no longer have him. To be sure he will be missed. Now, for Cardinal Nation, it is time to move on.

Is there a single Cardinals Fan here that still regrets Pujols signing with the Angels, all things considered?

I wouldn't say I ever regretted Pujols leaving. Sure it was a bit sad to see him go, but I was super excited about what Berkman would do for another year (oops) and Craig getting a full time job (outstanding!). I have still been rooting for him personally on his new team, and it is hard to watch him try to play in so much pain. However, this just goes to show that Mo was right in not giving him the length of contract and cash he wanted to stay in St. Louis. He is done as a Cardinal, and that is a bit sad, but the Cardinals are not done as a team, and that is exciting!

I never regretted it. I knew it was good business for the team. Didn't hold it against him either.

I've always been kinda hard on Cardinal fans for letting him go somewhat easy and I really wanted him to fail but now i'm at the point where I hope he does well for his career. It was kinda cool seeing him take pictures with his oldteammates. When I saw him with those guys, I almost felt like he really missed playing in St Louis.

Of course he does. It was personal with the organization, not the city or its fans or his teammates. ST. Louisans have to stop taking it so personally. And here, a huge majority do hate Pujols now - I don't know what your frame of reference is.

This nonsense is ridiculous. It really doesn't make any sense to me at all! Kinda like the hate that was focused on Don Denkinger after the 1985 Series. I love that team, but I really don't understand these fools that could turn on a guy like Pujols. To me it is the just as stupid as blaming an umpire who blew 1 call for losing a 7 game Series, when the team hit as a whole below the Mendoza Line. Morons.
