I knew he was hurt the second half. Everybody did but the medical staff it seems.

The Cardinals signed Brayan Pena to a two-year deal.

Yeah, just read about the Pena signing. He said he is excited to back up his idol at that position, and called Yadi a Hall of Famer. Yep. Smart man. Saying all the right things to start off his time in St. Louis. Good show.

Sign Heyward, doggone it. Sign him today.

Wish Cruz all the best and thank him for his time in St. Louis, but it was painfully obvious they needed a more reliable back-up the past two seasons when Yadi went down. I like the signing.

I do too. Happy trails, Cruz, and thanks! Yeah, I am hoping Pena gives us more clout. We'll see. Could end up like another Rich Gedman signing. I sure hope not, of course!

I see Blue posted about Kozma going to the Yankees. Is Pete gonna back up our other former SS Brendan Ryan?! That would be pretty funny.

OK, so we lost Lance Lynn to TJ all next year, and John Lackey just signed with those damn Cubs. That hurts. I hope his fragileness Waino can stay healthy all year. Then we will have him, one half decent season from Garcia, CMart, and Wacha, right? Anyone else? Lyons? Yikes. Maybe Bob Tewksbury will come out of retirement for us.

Just saw we traded Jon Jay to the Padres for utility infielder Jedd Gyorko. I will look to see if this is for real. Guess that leaves CF to Bourjos and Pham, right? Anyway, I gotta go look for more info here.

                            OK, here we go:

                            http://m.mlb.com/news/article/159096...ko-from-padres

Looks like Gyorko is under contract for $32 mil over the next 4 seasons. He hit 16 HR in 421 ABs last year with a .694 OPS. Jay is in his last year, and owed just over $6 mil. Gyorko can play 2B, SS and 3B, spending most of his time last season at second with nearly 30 games at short as well (76 starts at 2B, 28 at SS). I like it. Thanks for everything Jay, loved you dude, but this works for me. Gyorko can be a huge upgrade at UT over some guys we had recently like Pete Kozma and DD. We'll see how it all plays out.

                            HEYWARD!!! Sign HEYWARD!!!

Oh yeah, and get another pitcher, too.

Isn't Bourjos with the Phillies now?
