But as it turned out Caldwell had peaked at age 26 whereas Groat would go strong till age 34, and lead the Cards to the '64 pennant. Gotay? His 1962 Topps Rookie Star designation was as good as it got for him. He got injured in 1963, and would spend a lot of time going up and down from the minors to big leagues with PIT, CAL and HOU.
