  • Do the Cardinals still have an option on Gibson?

They may need him this year

    2. Trouble at the top

Last night was a bad night for Carlos Martinez (0-3, 4.76 ERA), and tonight is a huge night for Adam Wainwright (0-3, 7.24 ERA). The Cardinals' top two starters have failed to last six innings in six of their seven combined starts. They've got one quality start between the two of them, and it was Martinez on opening night. Since then, Martinez has surrendered 12 earned runs in 15 1/3 innings.

Meanwhile, Wainwright has allowed 11 earned runs in 13.2 innings. This is an obvious take. But if these two don't get right, it will be a long season in St. Louis.

The big issue is that every single position starter has not hit well...at all. Not one hot start. Not one average start. Even if they all hit slightly below their career averages, th Cards will start winning more games.

If Wacha can get back to what he used to be if not be better then that would be nice for the Cards.

At least Waino can still rake for a pitcher.

Martinez needs to go back to his old hair style. He was at his best when he had it.

Did not mean to double post but can they also get Ozzie and Oberkfell out there on SS and 3rd? They need them.

I don't think anyone actually thinks his hair has anything to do with his pitching.

Why Oberkgell? He was sure handed but slow and had no range at all. We had a guy named Scott Rolen you know.

                  I'll take Rolen.

                      Boyer would be okay too.

The good news is that the Giants, Mets, pirates and even Dodgers all also had bad starts. I don't think the wildcard race will be all that strong this year. And the cubs are probably to good anyway.
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.
