The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

      The A: No

      ***********My Rant on Bud Selig***********
Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

I wish I could say you were wrong, but you may be right. I don't think MLB will wait forever, and after pocketing the penalties they get from arbitration, it is very well possible that this team could be contracted after this year.

They will make a deal with a Nevada or Las Vegas stadium authority, and only move there once a domed stadium is complete. Since Las Vegas' mayor says the earliest a team can play is 2010, I don't think the Nats would move there next year.

I honestly think that the Marlins are more likely to move there IF the Hialeah ballpark fails. If baseball has the patience to go through this process another time, there may be a new stadium in Northern Virginia. If they are sick of this, then I still think that the team may be contracted.

The only shooting being done is that of the D.C. city council-in their own feet.

Marlins won't go to Vegas. MLB has barred the team from talking with that city.

Virginia Rebels? Not exactly PC, but there was talk going on today. Way too early. Maybe something-like a miracle-will shake out.

Council is starting to argue over the stadium again.

I think since most Nats fans are FROM Virginia and have already grown used to the name, "Virginia Nationals" seems most likely. It would be funny though if they were renamed the "Virginia Senators." Only Tony Williams and Mark Plotkin objected to "Washington Senators" and their objections do not apply once the team is located in Northern Virginia.

Some people on line still think a stadium will be built in D.C., but at this point I don't see how it's going to get done...

eddie, at this point I wouldn't discount anything. D.C. is the best place for the team and Baseball knows it. Ain't no other place ready. Ain't no other place as lucrative.

Will Baseball give in anymore? I doubt it. Allow for combined public/private money for a stadium? Several parks have been financed this way. But the hour seems to have passed for this.

I hate the "C" word. With the CBA up for renewal I can't get it out of my mind though.

Remember how Boswell said a month or two ago that there was "no way" the Nats would leave D.C.? As recently as a few weeks ago, he was confident that a compromise was in the works. Well, Boswell has FINALLY woken up and seen the danger that I've seen since last November.

The renegade D.C. Council simply refuses to abide by an agreement that had been negotiated by those who represent the city.

You guys watching the meeting right now? Barry has changed his mind and the bitchy council members are increasing their bitchy.
