  • The injury bug bites

Pena is out 4+ weeks due to an oblique tear, if I'm not mistaken.

Hill will not be ready for the start of the season.

Good thing Jimbo got us the best bench in baseball.

To top it off, Dukes has a hamstring strain, and is day to day. I hope they don't have to resort to putting Langerhans out there.

any word on Cordero, i heard he didn't close on opening night cause he had some kind of tightness/soreness in his forearm i believe, or his shoulder was it...anything serious?
"Lopez received a routine day off from the starting lineup on Sunday, though he later entered the game as a defensive replacement.
It's odd to see Lopez being superior defensively to anyone at shortstop, until you see that the Nats started D'Angelo Jimenez at short."

According to this morning's Post, he got a cortisone shot, and they are hoping not to have to put him on the DL.

The Nationals put Chad Cordero on the 15-day disabled list last (Friday, April 4th) evening, retroactive to March 27th. Jon Rauch is filling as closer.

Hopefully, this was more to make room for Lannan to start tomorrow than due to Chad's condition. The Nats' site reported he threw a bullpen session today, and experienced no pain.
