This ESPN article states Jose Gullien has injured tendons in his wrist which require surgery and could be out three months. The Nationals will seek a second opinion. I don't blame them. I would be in denial, too.

Church should be the RF me thinks. He did pretty well playing RF when Guillen wasn't playing for other reasons. Only other guy I see competiting for job is Tucker, although if I were Kory Casto I'd try flexing my old OF muscles and glove again so I don't end up being a career minor leaguer. The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?
The A: No
***********My Rant on Bud Selig***********
Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

He was Wade's last blunder in Philly.
We lost a good young pitcher in a trade for that stiff.
In 18 games he hit a Ty Cobb-like .222 (remember Cobb's been dead 45 years and can't get around on a curveball like he used to).
He got 4 count 'em 4 hits but whiffed an equal number of times.
We miss him already....not.
If the Gnats played stadium rules for right field like "if it lands or rolls over the Nationals sweatshirt it's an out" and let the pitcher bat twice you would actually improve your chances of winning. The Phillies Barstool Lives!

A day after finding out that he could be out for three months because of a left wrist injury, Jose Guillen learned on Saturday that his injury isn't as severe, but he will not be involved in baseball activities for seven to 10 days.
Damnit, Guillen, why do you always scare us like that? First it was out until May, then out until March, then out 3 months, now just 7 days? :grouchyThe Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

Welll, the good news is that I can finally WORRY about these little things! And hopefully in a couple of months, we will have an owner who will give Bowden his walking papers for the Soriano fiasco!!!

Next steps:
(1) Get a new owner
(2) Fire Jim Bowden
(3) Hire a good GM if there is one out there
(4) Trade Soriano to the Mets for all their best prospects not named Lastings Milledge or Aaron Heilman (only ones Minaya WON'T give up)
(5) Hope we stay competitive by making some good trades for the LONG TERM.
(6) Be aggressive in free agency for 2007 and 2008.
(7) Make the playoffs in 2007.
(8) Win the NL East in 2008.
(9) Win the World Series in 5 games so we can celebrate in our brand new stadium.
(10) Watch the area around the stadium become one of the most economically successful neighborhoods in the DC city proper
(11) Go key Jeffrey Loria and Adrian Fenty's cars. The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

I'd like to think that if the Nats win the World Series in 5 games it will be on the road, because we will have baseball's best record, and MLB will FINALLY follow the example of the NHL and NBA and have the team with the best record earn home field advantage. But hey---it's not that far a drive back to D.C. from Yankee Stadium and we will have time to greet the buses with a HUGE welcome home!

Also, it'll be good to see Nats baseball be associated with this:
Instead of this junk:

We need a new stadium and only when one is built will the Nats future in D.C. be secure, but don't call RFK "junk." My eyes will be moist when they finally tear that place down...
