  • Barry Bonds to Nationals?

Call me crazy, hate me, but it kinda makes sence.

First off let me say that I do not like Barry Bonds, i think he is a cheat, but there is no denying what he brings to a team.

With injuries to Pena and Dukes our outfield is stretched extremely thin. What if this was late in the year and we were fighting for a playoff spot with a giant hole in the outfield and batting order?

Our new stadium is beautiful and it was packed for opening day, but eventually the new-stadium-madness will wear off and our attendance will start to suffer.

There is a free agent out there who brings plenty of pop to the plate and can fill a stadium on his own.

    Here are his stats:
    Batting average .298
    Home runs 762
    RBI 1,996
    Hits 2,935
    Slugging percentage .607

Love him, or hate him (i hate him) you cant deny what he would bring to this team and our fans.

Pass. There's a reason nobody has picked up Barry; he carries too much baggage, and he'd want too much money for what he'd produce. If anyone picked him up, it'd be an AL team who'd have him DH. As far as being a draw, fans outside the Bay Area don't have much love for the guy.

The Nats are trying to rebuild w/ youngsters, and having a cranky, $15 million, 43 yr old doesn't exactly help. The Rays don't want him, so what does that tell you?

I doubt that a Mr. Bonds is in the Nats payroll this year

It looks like the only team Barry Lamar Bonds will play for is Uncle Sam's Band of Felons. Looks like he'll get a 1-year contract from them at least.

Will that contain a no trade clause?

No-if he tries to 'opt out' early, then they'll trade him to a higher security team, and possibly extend his contract by a couple of years.

idk i used to like him in like 2000 but now he has all this baggage i mean he would help the ball club a little bit since they are in need of outfielders but if i was the nationals i would pass definatly
