    There's not much actually in the ballpark neighborhood (not yet, anyway), but there is a subway stop (Navy Yard) right there, and you can get to lots of other interesting areas of DC on the train, so that's definitely the way to get there.

    For restaurants and bars, go to either the Dupont Circle or Adams Morgan neighborhoods. Dupont has its own subway stop, for Adams Morgan you go to the Woodley Park stop.

    There are comments on seat locations and hotels in this thread.

      You can also check out Union Station (on the Metro Red Line) before a game- lots of shops, restaurants and a movie theatre. The ballpark itself is on the Green line.

      Union Station is A superbly restored historic, mixed-use, intermodal transportation and shopping center located just blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

      And of course, there is plenty to see at the Smithsonian and memorials.

        using the Metro questions

        I'm coming for a ball game from out of town. I figured from BWI I would drive down to the Greenbelt station and take the metro from there. But I've got a few questions.

        1)According to the Metrol schedule the last train is shortly after 11:00 pm. Do they add more trains if a game runs late? If the game is rain delayed for 2 hours it could easily finish later.

        2)According to the metro website I need to pay for parking at Greenbelt with a Smartrip card. Is that true? I'm only going to be in DC once for the foreseeable future, do I really need to purchase this card just to pay for parking?

        Thanks!

          Man, NICE STADIUM! I passed it 3 days ago on my way into DC. I would love to go there and if I do, I'm digging up this thread.

            I went to the inaugural game and loved being there of course... But I find the Park to be too commercialized! There are so many things for the kids to do they don't stay in their seats making it uncomfortable for the fans that want to watch the game. Also the seats are cramped for a new park. The Park is beautiful and I will go back, but it's not "Fenway" with that old baseball feeling where you go to have a dog and a beer to watch the game!
