  • Tim Redding non-tendered

Washington also announced that they did not tender a 2009 contract to right-handed pitcher Tim Redding. Redding, who went 10-11 with a 4.95 ERA; but only 3-8 with a 6.92 ERA after the All-Star break, is still interested in returning to the Nationals.

I didn't really understand this. I can't imagine he would have gotten that much in arbitration, but I was appalled at how much of a raise Lopez got last year after stinking up the place in '07. I'd be curious to know who they project will be in their rotation besides Lannan. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he wants to come back to Washington I don't think they can sign him until May since he wasn't offered arbitration.
