  • Nationals sign former Oriole Daniel Cabrera

The Washington Times is reporting that the Nationals have signed former Oriole Daniel Cabrera to a 1 year contract, pending a physical.

Cabrera, who stands 6' 7", was 8-10 with a 5.25 ERA with the O's last season, ending the season on the DL with a sprained elbow.

The Nats have not made the announcement official at this point.

    Daniel Cabrera career record
"For the Washington Senators, the worst time of the year is the baseball season." Roger Kahn

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Rogers Hornsby.

I hope this deal wasn't in lieu of resigning Perez. Cabrera has been inconsistent his entire career; if his command is on, he can be effective, but that hasn't happened often enough. Also, he can't bunt, much less hit. If he came cheap enough, he could be an interesting project for both StClair and Eckstein this spring.
