Before you guys received your gift (the Nationals) for those who live in Washington and elsewhere, what team did you reut for before the Nationals?
    Expos?

Even when the Senators were still here, my NL team was the Cards. After the Senators left, I rooted for the team in Baltimore in the AL, and even shared a Sunday game plan from '93 through '04. When the Nats first moved here, I had every intention of continuning to go to Baltimore once a year or so to see a game, but the Toad will not see a dime of my money again. I usually don't even read their box score in the paper anymore.

When the Senators left town, there was NO other team, period!

I admit that I did follow the Red Sox, and to a lesser extent the White Sox, from afar but could never bring myself to root for the hated Orioles.

I probably attended more Richmond Braves (AAA-International League) games than major league games, especially in the last 15 years.

I rooted for the Orioles, but I was still hoping Washington would get a baseball team of their own and I could root for both. At one time picking between the Orioles and a Washington baseball team would have been tough for me. Peter Angelos made it easy.

Never Mistake a Renter for a Buyer

I tried rooting for Texas when the Senators left, but the personnel turned over and it wasn't the same as the hometown team. The Orioles were a natural and are still my favorite American League team. I will follow them from afar but haven't near the interest in them I once had.

Cubs all the way. Very glad the new ball team in Washington is a National League team. I wasn't a Senators follower but I can see how they would have lived in the shadows of the Yankees, Red Sox and "OH'S!". So now the area has both leagues and they should thrive.

              Orioles

The Orioles recently. We got all of their games on local TV so it became natural to consider them the home team. This year,it appears that Peter Angelos is blacking us out because of the Nationals. They're only being shown on the Baltimore station. He doesn't want to lose the Md.-D.C. fans,so we would have to drive up to watch them.

This is slightly off-topic, but Thom Loverro wrote in the Washington Times the other day an article about how the now-hated Pedro Martinez used to be a star for the Nats when they were in Montréal.

Say, Wilk---do you have any memories of Pedro when he was pitching with the Expos? If you do, did you have any mixed feelings about the beaning incident which happened at Shea last week?

I remember when Pedro pitched a no-hiiter, but lost it because the game had to go to extras since our offense was getting shutout (somethings just never change I guess).
The Q: Can the Cubs hold a 6-5 lead with 2 outs and nobody on in the 9th?

                  The A: No

Selig is like a stray pigeon. Pigeons are too self-absorbed to care about anyone else. They poo on people they don't like; they poo on people they don't even know. The only real difference between Selig and a pigeon is that Selig intends to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture,

This was before Angelos owned the team so I was an Oriole fan (hoping for a Washington team) who hardly dreamed that the Expos would move here, but I remember hearing about how ex-Oriole Dennis Martinez pitched a perfect game for the Expos. It was a rain-shortened five-inning game, but it counted.

                      Pedro.

One of the best pitchers I ever saw.
I do actually, have mixed feelings right now.
I don't think that Pedro thinks that the nats are the Expos, I think he hates it that the Expos moved away and shows his frustration to a guy who creams hom (Jose Guillen)

                      Memories.

I have to go cry now.
