Pardon me for expressing skepticism, but when has a lack of minority
investors EVER held up an ownership group buying a MLB team before?
Boswell thinks this may give Malek's group an edge, but I can't believe
they would give Malek the team after Colbert I. King's damning op-ed
piece a few weeks ago.

I hope I am wrong, but I think the "lack of minority investors" may just
be cover to give baseball a plausible reason to name the guy they (or
rather Jerry Reinsdorf) wanted all along---Jeff Smulyan.

According to Selig, it appears the field has been narrowed-

"What I saw in St. Louis convinced me again that you need an owner who understands the importance of having a great ballpark. Don't skimp," Selig said. "But, in Washington, I think both [prospective] groups would do that."

The last big sale- Boston back in 2001. Sale went to the second highest bidder rather than the highest due to concerns over the minority investors. One of the investors wound up buying the Dodgers.
