  • 1956 Team Autographed Baseball

    Greetings,
My Grandfather gave me a team autographed baseball back in the '60s from the Brooklyn Dogers. I believe that it is from 1956 team. Some of the signatures are:

Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, Roy Campinella,Don Newcombe,
Dick Williams, Don Bissant, Ed Roebuck, Jim Gilliam, Carl Erskine, Duke Snider, Don Zimmer, Sal Maglie and others.

Can anyone suggest how I can have this ball appraised? I live in the Philadelphia PA area.

    Thanks in advance,
    EdNelson

If "Bissant" and "Campinella" appear on that ball, they are forgeries.

Even in Philadelphia? Seems to me there was a pawn shop next to the old Troc Theatre (I only went for the comics) who might have made an offer on the ball.
After 1957, it seemed like we would never laugh again. Of course, we did. Its just that we were never young again.

You only went for the comics? No wonder I never saw you there.

EdNelson, I think what donzblock means is, that you have mispelled their names.
It should be "Campanella" and "Bessent." If it appears as you say,
          then YES, it's a forgery.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the regulars here aren't big on the money-changing of treasured memories.

You would be right about that, BRB.

Also, this thread is over four years old, so the subject question has no value at this time. I fail to understand just why it was resurrected.

It also shows how little Donzblock is missed!

Didn't Newcombe and Robinson have the ball boy doing a lot of their signings?? Supposedly you could identify these balls because the two signatures would one below the other on the ball.
