  • Brooklyn Fan Needs Help

I have written before and I am need of some help. I became a Brooklyn Dodger fan since one of your own lives in my hometown. I have played baseball for 35 years but until about 10 years ago, when I met Cy Buker, I started to love the game of baseball. This is why I feel for the Brooklyn Dodger fan. I'm not just saying that, my family room is full of Ebbets Field pictures, pictures of Cy's teammates, DVD's and books of the Brooklyn Dodgers- but I still can't afford that 1945 team autographed baseball.

The reason I am writting is that Cy's wife past away a little over a week ago. Cy is 89 years young. The family asked me at the memorial if I could find out if there would be some audio or maybe video of when Cy played in 1945. I felt this would be the place to ask. If anybody could lend me any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Cy Buker

I am a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The hall has a GREAT research library. I am sure they can help. I know for a fact, that they will at least have a photo or two of Cy. I know you can purchase one. At 89, even though he is a young 89, get him to autograph one for you. I got to meet Joe McCarthy in 1960, as he was a friend of my dad's. He autographed a baseball for me. It means the world to me, more now then ever. When you see him, tape an interview with him. He has so much knowlege, that will be lost someday. It must be a privlage to know him and his wife.......let me know how you do on this. Dennie, [email protected]

        Brooklyn Fan Needs Help

Dennie- Thanks for the information. Cy has given me an autographed picture. I will post it on this thread when I can get my wife to help scan it. I had Cy sign a baseball for my oldest son, that even ment more to me. I also bought an autographed baseball off of ebay and I told Cy how much a paid for it. He cussed me out and told me he would have given me one. He did feel good on how much I paid for it. A radio announcer in the area is also good friends with Cy, he has interviewed Cy several times and has given me CD's of these interviews. In these interviews he talks about when he was a kid and what they played in, the years he played in college for the U. of Wisconsin, how he got hurt, how he got picked up by Brooklyn, playing for Leo Durocher, his playing days in Montreal with Jackie Robinson, and his coaching career at high schools in the area. I talk to many of his players in town and he was one of the toughest to play for but was more than a coach to many of them. I am priviledge to have the oppurtunity to have known him. Thanks again.

          Hello BB.

Would you please tell Cy he has a couple of fans in Fujisawa, Japan who wish him well?

          Thank you.
