  • OUR JACKIE described as a "Los Angeles Dodger" Aaargh!

    Friends:

Tonight I was websurfing and made a purchase at Idatasports.com.

I was horrified to discover that not only does Idatasports.com NOT have a separate Brooklyn Dodgers page, but that anything and everything, no matter its provenance, is listed as belonging to the West Coast Franchise---including Jackie!

It made me so crazy, as I said, so I emailed the webmaster recommending changes to the site and updated pagetext.

I thought you'd like to know.

Thanks, So'55, for taking quick and swift action.

Nothing makes me crazier than when I see OUR DODGERS lumped in, and part of, that west coast group.

Some of these people do not understand that they are TWO SEPARATE TEAMS......so it falls to US to educate them with the truth.

      Friends:

Here is a copy of my email to http://www.Idatasports.com. If anybody else wants to let them have it, have a go. I'm almost sorry I bought a pennant protector from them. Fortunately, it will protect a Brooklyn Dodgers pennant.

While surfing your site I came across a number of items listed as “Jackie Robinson---Los Angeles Dodgers.”

Jackie Robinson was NEVER a Los Angeles Dodger. He was a BROOKLYN Dodger, and played for Brooklyn between 1947-1956. The franchise left Brooklyn after the 1957 season. Several Brooklyn Dodgers became members of the Los Angeles team, but NOT Jackie. Please correct the link as I am getting good old fashioned Bay Ridge agita thinking of Jackie described as an “LA Dodger.”

Your sale items should really be marked appropriately and with historical accuracy. Given the popularity of Brooklyn Dodger merchandise, I am surprised they do not rate a special link on your website.

Right on the mark, Jeff. Thanks again for sending it.

I'd be interested to know if you get a response.
