Sorry I missed the day, but my best wishes to one of the best.

Steve was there at the beginning of this forum, the very beginning, along with Don Block and Jaykay, and he was always the one whose words stopped you in your tracks and provoked the thought, "why didn't I think of that." The fact that he's still here is of benefit to the forum and anyone who partakes in the true meaning of the gathering's spirit and fellowship.

He has always maintained a Broun-like reverence and command of words, a Cannon-like love and knowledge of New York and a Smith-like insistence on the dignity of the discussion and treatment of sport.

His knowledge is encompassing, far reaching and detailed, ranging from baseball to music, from Chuck Connors' only Ebbets Field at bat to Billy Bland's only hit and just about everything in between.

        Many more, my friend.
After 1957, it seemed like we would never laugh again. Of course, we did. Its just that we were never young again.

Okay, okay, I'm a little late, but let me tell you dudes a thing or two:

I was cyber-acquainted with our old pro, shlevine42, BEFORE there was a Baseball Fever or a Brooklyn Dodgers Forum (in its present incarnation), so long ago that I've forgotten what it was called, but he was just as good then even if he admitted to doing some research to answer a few of my Brooklyn Dodgers trivia questions on a quiz that I expected to stump the entire world forever though to tell the truth I had to do research of my own to come up with the questions. In other words, he was good then, and he is good now. So what if he's one year older? Who isn't? Yes, he adds more than a touch of class to the goings-on here (which need all the class they can unearth), and I for one am pleased and proud to add my belated congratulations upon the most recent anniversary of his birth. In other words, O Wise One, happy birthday to you (and the same goes for next year, etc., etc., and so forth in case I forget).
            pb::

Whoever said that the internet isolates us and prevents us from forming new friendships would do well to study the history of this
                Brooklyn Dodgers Forum.

I’m deeply moved and flattered beyond words that the charter members of this Forum -- members whom I admire and from whom I’ve learned much -- have taken the time to post their birthday wishes. It’s an honor to be thought worthy of belonging to this special group, and even more of an honor to be considered a friend.

To Brother Jaykay: I may be able to remember Bob Ramazzotti and Bill Hart and Lee Pfund, but I too have forgotten the site where we first crossed trivia swords. Fortunately, we met up again here at this site, and I’m richer for it.

To Judge McCoy: For bringing the Broun quote to my attention, and for the countless graceful sentences and memorable images of yours that have graced this site. I know you won’t mind that I’ve borrowed some of them from time to time -- always with attribution.

To Professor Block: For your honesty, courage, literary sensitivity and wit. And for making my visits here an adventure. Never mind Marianne Moore: YOU are my Brooklyn Poet Laureate.

To all of you – your friendship has honored me, enriched my life and brought me more joy than you can imagine.

                Many thanks.

Next year it wil be even more special. We will all sit together in new Ebbets Field after I bought the LALALALALALA Dodgers and brought them back HOME to Brooklyn. That would be something. Okay, Okay, I have to be realistic... They can not build a stadium that fast.

Just bring them home. We'll put them up in the Parade Grounds until we can find better lodgings.

There is a book out there by David Ritz called "the man who brought the Dodgers Back to Brooklyn", the gist of it is that gas prices result in people not going to Dodger games in LA so these two Brooklyniste buy them and move them back to Brooklyn and rebuild Ebbets Field in the same spot.

Things I learned the last few weeks while being bored at work...
