My sources are telling me that Buzzy Bavasi died today at the age of 93. That is a big loss to Brooklyn fans everywhere.

While on the one hand you have to think that 93 years of good health and being mentally sharp all the way to the end is a deal we would all take. But everytime a Brooklyn Dodger leaves, that golden era gets further and further away.
Rest in peace Buzzie, you created a lot of great memories for my new friends on this board and I love the stories they share with me.

I read somewhere that Buzzie was unhappy about moving. I think without buzzie, the big o' would not have been nearly as sucessful as he was. After Buzzie left, it took them five years to win a pennant, with many players from, the buzzie days. God bless ya' Buzzie, rest in peace. battlin bake, the dodger dynamo

The quotes the blogger attributes to Buzzy Bavasi were NOT said by Buzzy Bavazi. The statements he quotes were said by Dodger GM Al Campanis. Al Campanis IS NOT Buzzy Bavasi. Buzzy Bavasi was gone from the Dodger organization for 20 years when AL CAMPANIS said those things.
The blogger is ill-informed. He can't even properly quote AL CAMPANIS'S ignorant statements correctly and he credits poor Buzzy with signing Jackie Robinson. (He didn't)
You know, the guy just died after living a GOOD life. Don't you think he deserves NOT to have his name slandered ?Last edited by whoisonit; 05-02-2008, 10:00 AM.

Easy, folks. musial6 is a good and solid contributor to these boards, not a troublemaker. He made an honest mistake by following a poor source of information. I'm sure he gets it now.Dave Bill Tom George Mark Bob Ernie Soupy Dick Alex Sparky
