First of all, I sincerely want to thank those of you who expressed concern and support for me, both privately and publicly. I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I have given 1000% to making OUR BROOKLYN DODGER FORUM the best since I took this job, so your continued support for my efforts is deeply heartfelt.
Now to the reason why I "stepped back" and just observed for awhile.
Several weeks ago, an issue was made of the "manner" in which I post, something that really both upset and bothered me because I have always posted in the same manner, since I came to BBF, nearly six years ago. I use no profanity, I make no political overtones, I always comply with the BBF rules...and have always enforced them. I have also always fought for, and supported, many of OUR members and resolved many conflicts behind the scenes.
NO ONE ever made an issue of my posts to me, until April 2nd. Apparently someone took it upon themselves (or was asked) to monitor my posts, and anytime I referred to that "west coast group" as such, or as the "left coast group", I was told I was trashing another city and their fans. I was further told that I had to refrain from further "trashing" that same city and it's fans by saying that "they come in the 3rd inning and leave in the 7th inning", or my Moderator status would be on the line. As for this remark, which I have always used, because it is true. I never post something that I do not personally know to be true. As I have stated, over and over again, I have sat in the Ravine many, many times, and have witnessed this personally. So, I know it to be a truth. Why, then, is it all of a sudden, "trashing"? Let me add here, this was always done in the confines of OUR forum only, never on their forum.
At this same time, I, and all OUR BROOKLYN FANS, have had to endure some fans from that other forum who come over here to OUR Forum, and tell US, over and over again, to "get over it" when talking about WHY and HOW MUCH WE still hurt from what was done to US. It's one thing to come here and want to open a discussion about "what was done to US"; it's quite another thing to come in like a "bull in a china shop" with an chip and an attitude, for the sole purpose of "trashing US" by literally laughing in OUR faces because WE still care about OUR DODGERS, 50 years after they were stolen from US for pure greed, and then tell US to "get over it". Instead of trying to learn WHY WE still feel as WE do, WE are "trashed" for OUR sincere honest feelings. WHY, I ask, has this never been reported and chastised? I suspect what WE have here is a "double standard".
I have watched in horror, over these past few weeks, as some of OUR threads were invaded and trashed by those same people who claim to be so honorable. Calling OUR VP/GM Buzzie Bavasi a bigot! My stomach turned when I read that, and yet there were few to stop it. No decency, no respect, my god, this man just passed away. FYI Buzzie was a friend, and one of the most decent and smartest baseball men I have ever known. Buzzie should be honored and elected to the HOF, since it was HE who was the brains of not only OUR 1955 World Championship team, but of several of those WC teams in succeeding years.
Let me close by saying...I am a BROOKLYN DODGER FAN, first and foremost! I know how I felt living through 1957/1960, and how the pain of it all pierced my heart. I know how much it hurt; how much it still hurts. I will never allow anyone to tell me how to feel, or how much to care about OUR BROOKLYN DODGERS. To those who feel it is their life's mission to laugh at US, I say, unless YOU have walked in OUR shoes, and loved a team as much as WE (still) love OUR DODGERS, you may not agree with US, but, you do not have the right to tell US to "get over it". NO ONE DOES!
Thanks again, to my loyal and true BROOKLYN DODGER FANS! As always, YOU are the best of the best!
