  • DODGER DEB reporting.....

First of all, I sincerely want to thank those of you who expressed concern and support for me, both privately and publicly. I want you to know how much I appreciate it. I have given 1000% to making OUR BROOKLYN DODGER FORUM the best since I took this job, so your continued support for my efforts is deeply heartfelt.

Now to the reason why I "stepped back" and just observed for awhile.

Several weeks ago, an issue was made of the "manner" in which I post, something that really both upset and bothered me because I have always posted in the same manner, since I came to BBF, nearly six years ago. I use no profanity, I make no political overtones, I always comply with the BBF rules...and have always enforced them. I have also always fought for, and supported, many of OUR members and resolved many conflicts behind the scenes.

NO ONE ever made an issue of my posts to me, until April 2nd. Apparently someone took it upon themselves (or was asked) to monitor my posts, and anytime I referred to that "west coast group" as such, or as the "left coast group", I was told I was trashing another city and their fans. I was further told that I had to refrain from further "trashing" that same city and it's fans by saying that "they come in the 3rd inning and leave in the 7th inning", or my Moderator status would be on the line. As for this remark, which I have always used, because it is true. I never post something that I do not personally know to be true. As I have stated, over and over again, I have sat in the Ravine many, many times, and have witnessed this personally. So, I know it to be a truth. Why, then, is it all of a sudden, "trashing"? Let me add here, this was always done in the confines of OUR forum only, never on their forum.

At this same time, I, and all OUR BROOKLYN FANS, have had to endure some fans from that other forum who come over here to OUR Forum, and tell US, over and over again, to "get over it" when talking about WHY and HOW MUCH WE still hurt from what was done to US. It's one thing to come here and want to open a discussion about "what was done to US"; it's quite another thing to come in like a "bull in a china shop" with an chip and an attitude, for the sole purpose of "trashing US" by literally laughing in OUR faces because WE still care about OUR DODGERS, 50 years after they were stolen from US for pure greed, and then tell US to "get over it". Instead of trying to learn WHY WE still feel as WE do, WE are "trashed" for OUR sincere honest feelings. WHY, I ask, has this never been reported and chastised? I suspect what WE have here is a "double standard".

I have watched in horror, over these past few weeks, as some of OUR threads were invaded and trashed by those same people who claim to be so honorable. Calling OUR VP/GM Buzzie Bavasi a bigot! My stomach turned when I read that, and yet there were few to stop it. No decency, no respect, my god, this man just passed away. FYI Buzzie was a friend, and one of the most decent and smartest baseball men I have ever known. Buzzie should be honored and elected to the HOF, since it was HE who was the brains of not only OUR 1955 World Championship team, but of several of those WC teams in succeeding years.

Let me close by saying...I am a BROOKLYN DODGER FAN, first and foremost! I know how I felt living through 1957/1960, and how the pain of it all pierced my heart. I know how much it hurt; how much it still hurts. I will never allow anyone to tell me how to feel, or how much to care about OUR BROOKLYN DODGERS. To those who feel it is their life's mission to laugh at US, I say, unless YOU have walked in OUR shoes, and loved a team as much as WE (still) love OUR DODGERS, you may not agree with US, but, you do not have the right to tell US to "get over it". NO ONE DOES!

Thanks again, to my loyal and true BROOKLYN DODGER FANS! As always, YOU are the best of the best!

    c.

Welcome "home" DD! Good to have you back.
You have always been a great moderator, and I am sure will continue to moderate with all of the skills, knowledge and sense of humor that you have had in the past. Congratulations to you for standing by what you believe in and for explaining it so honestly.
NOW, get us back to Brooklyn and the Dodgers, and lead us in some of the great discussions that we've had in the past, with you at the helm!

    Dodger Deb, too!

from one DD to another DD, BROOKLYN DODGER FAN. I'm glad your back. There was a lot going on by some who did not live through those events. I agree with your take on many things. I'm respectful when I visit other forums, here though as we should, we speak our minds. Amazingly we do it without profanity. I think it worries people for some strange reason that we still care so much, insecurity perhaps? the fear one day our dreams may be realized? who knows? maybe just people who like to agitate and enjoy aggravating others. I wouldn't worry about your posts, we all believe for the most part the essential points of your posts and if they alter your status or ban you it's gonna be pretty empty over here because we all feel the same way. Glad your back! battlin bake, the dodger dynamo

I am utterly shocked at your description of what took place in the thread announcing poor Buzzie Bavasi's death.
The poster who mistakenly refered to Mr. Buvasi as a bigot was questioned and challenged on this remark in the very next post. He was taken to task by people who are not even 'BD' regulars such as myself. Further, he then understood his source was not credible and apologised. This is hardly a case of "few to stop it".

Turning our attention now to "No decency, no respect, my god, this man just passed away", I agree whole heartedly.

Welcome back, I am so glad, as I'm sure every BB-F member is, that you are not in poor health or worse.

Phew! I have only been on this board a short time reall inspired by the HBO documentary (which I since learned from the longtime members of the board how it was an O'Malley generated PR piece) to learn more about the Dodgers. I was seriously worried that something may have happened, but I am glad you are ok regardless of what you choose to do with regards to this board.

Dear Dodger Deb, Friends, and Webmaster:

I am glad to see you returned to us, Dodger Deb! There is no backing down from a fight, after all, even if that fight is carried on far from where people might see it.

Hopefully, the actions of dedicated BROOKLYN DODGERS fans will help to stop the trolling, the flame wars, and the First Amendment abuses that seem to be going on of late. No reason for all the drama. This place is supposed to be one for fun and learning.

If we can do that, we can get back in peace to the business of this forum:

            BROOKLYN DODGER BASEBALL.

            Best to all!

                Welcome back, DODGER DEB.

Now that you're back, let's hope that those who were concerned over the "manner" of your posts will "GET OVER IT" and let us get on with what we love to do best ... discussing OUR BROOKLYN DODGERS (the Right/East Coast Group) with you as our Moderator.

You are right, whoisinit....and I apologize for the incompleteness of my remarks.

What I meant to include in my remarks was the fact that the thread on Buzzie's passing quickly turned into a discussion on Al Campanis' remarks, even after the calling of Buzzie a "bigot" was dismissed. What bothered me was the fact that the thread had strayed so far off topic...and it shouldn't have. There is nothing wrong with discussing Al Campanis, but it should have been done on a separate thread.

Please understand, there has been so much going on off the board these past days, that I didn't get to post this until now.

I also thank you for your kind and good wishes.

Turning our attention now to "No decency, no respect, my god, this man just passed away", I agree whole heartedly. However it was the disgraceful behavior of a BDF regular that disrespected the BD board & Mr Bavasi with his dispicable behavior, begining in post # 21.

Before you level critisism at "outsiders" I implore you to clean up the 'trash' among your own regulars, specificaly this rude, vile, trouble maker who made a mockery of a thread devoted to a death.

Welcome back, I am so glad, as I'm sure every BB-F member is, that you are not in poor health or worse.

With all due respect, whoisinit, if you are referring to OUR longtime BDF member shlevine42, you couldn't be more wrong. He is, and always has been, a loyal and true BROOKLYN DODGER fan whose experiences date back to the time when WE had a team in BROOKLYN. He is one of most knowledgeable baseball people WE have on OUR forum. While you may not agree with shlevine42, and that is your right, using such language on OUR forum to attack a fellow member will not be allowed. It is also against BBF rules. He is none of those things. I am sure you can find a better way to express your disagreement with him, without the personal attacks. I am therefore deleting those words from your post.

I'm glad I didn't even realize you had stepped back for a while, as it would have caused some distress on my part. As a Red Sox fan, I only check your site occasionally, but I always enjoy coming back here and reading the Brooklyn Dodger stories.

You have some great writers in this group, including yourself, who have captured so many wonderful memories, in a format that doesn't exist anywhere else. No other team site in BBF can even come close to what you folks put out.

It's a joy to look these over every now and then, so I hope you'll hang in there and keep doing what you've been doing.
