Everyone here knows Gil is my hero, My uncle introduced me to Gil and the Dodgers when I was 4-5 years old, I remember my uncle either calling Gil over or having another player get Gil. Gil would come over and chat with us for a few minutes, sign my program or yearbook, and he just loved my minature Gil Hodges #14 Dodgers uniform. From the earliest I remember Gil was my favorite I always had more Gil baseball cards then the other kids on the block because I was always trading for his card. I wish i had those big boxes of Dodgers Memorabilia back that my mother took from my space in the attic and threw out in 1966 right after i went in the Air Force, I forgave her a long time ago but I still think about all that good stuff I had. God bless Gil on his birthday and lets hope by his next birthday he has the honor he truly deserves, member of the baseball HOF.
