Does anyone know of any photos of football at Ebbets Field? I am interested in seeing how the football field was laid out in Ebbets. Because of it's uniqe demensions, it must have been difficult to put in a football field.
Lets get Eddie Basinski elected to the Polish Sports Hall of Fame.

Tony email me and I'll send you a photo of Notre Dame at Ebbets Field. It will be in my book (out in a few days).

I don't have any photos but, for football games at EBBETS FIELD in the late 1940s, the field ran from the First Base line to Left field with the sidelines being along the Third Base line on one side and Right Field on the other. Seats on the 50 yard line would've been along the Third Base line a little behind the infield dirt.

Thank you Bkyln boy. Did they add seating of any kind or was it the regular seating?

I don't recall any additional seats being added for the Football games. I don't think that the attendence warranted additional seats.

By the way, I witnessed those Footbal games from the roof of EBBETS FIELD. I got there by helping the News Photogs carry their equipment into EBBETS FIELD, up to the roof and then helping them set up. In addition, I would run errands for them to get refeshments, etc. ... mostly hot chocolate, coffee or hot soup.

Does anyone know which famous Baseball Player was a Brooklyn Football Dodgers kicker???

(it was Pepper Martin, who played 3B-OF for Cards)

Son, we'd like to keep you around this season but we're going to try and win a pennant.

It's funny, they were able to fit a football field into tiny Ebbets Field, but couldn't figure out how to fit a baseball field into the huge LA Coliseum.

The Hank Soar mentioned was a long time American League umpire.

By the way, did you all happen to see that a few days ago another former Brooklyn Dodger football player, Benny Friedman, was finally given his due and elected to Canton?

Great photo, dreifort. I wish I could stop making up all the offense accompanying captions to that in my head, though.

In those days, everyone looked beautiful and happy in Ebbets Field, even the men.

THAT is really some food for thought, Professor.

I don't ever remember seeing anyone unhappy in OUR Ebbets Field, do you?
