    The man who was benched to make room for Jackie Robinson. A St Paul sports legend. Played major league baseball AND in the NBA. A Minnesota town team baseball legend as well.

    Howie Schultz, 87, Former Brooklyn Dodger and Minneapolis Laker, 1922-2009

    Howie Schultz, pictured second from left with Jackie Robinson two spots to his right, passed away on October 30, 2009 at the age of 87. Schultz was the Dodgers first baseman for 4 seasons until Robinson arrived in 1947.
