  • Game 3 1956 WS

Rare Sportsfilms has come up with another complete game, actually reel 2 is missing, that's the second & third innings but everything else remains, the pre & post game, the commercials, etc. - for those who want to take a trip down memory lane - a tough loss for Brooklyn but still of interest - set an attendence record at the Stadium that day.

I'm surprised that Rare Sportsfilms can sell anything wih how expensive their prices are. This vdeo is pretty pricey for being an incomplete broadcast.

My copy finally arrived yesterday. Watching this game was like watching it for the first time, as if it were just taking place, there are things in a game that one cannot "see" from a box score, how one pitch or one play can alter the outcome. Even though Brooklyn lost, it was an exciting game to view - even the commercials made it seem so real, a very young Scully in a sports coat doing a Paper Mate pen commercial "live" on air, Gillette Foamy shave cream just 79 cents, Gillette razor, blades and baseball encyclopedia for one dollar. Brooklyn had their chances to win this one, Ford held tough as did Maglie in game one. It was a cold (57) and windy Saturday afternoon, sunny at times - trash blowing around on the field - so many fans in jackets and ties- .................
