Eddie "Big Ed" Stevens entered this world in Galveston, Texas on January 12, 1925. He went to be with the Lord, surrounded by the love of his family, on July 22, 2012 at the age of 87.
His boyhood dreams came true when, at the young age of 16, he was signed to an amateur baseball contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
A few short years later at 20 he made it to the major leagues and his world was opened to all of the benefits a long baseball career, as a professional player, coach and scout, would give him.
