Hockey? HOCKEY? In a Baseball Fever thread? Blasphemy. If an NHL team was playing in the parking lot across the street I wouldn't go over to see it.

There had been talk a few years ago that a pro cricket oval (one also suitable for pro soccer) would be built at Floyd Bennett Field. That part of Brooklyn has a very large West Indian population and they would have filled up the stadium for T20 pro cricket. And, of course, there are plenty of soccer fans in the entire borough so attendance would always be good.

Good. Maybe we can get another team back up here.

I've seen a lot of comparisons in the local media, saying that Brooklyn now has another team "at the major league level". I guess that's true. However, I've never heard of the NBA being referred to as major league anything.

^^ I guess that Bramhall from the Daily News (Sep 12, 2012) never realized that the home team goes on the bottom of the MLB scoreboard, not on the top (or left-to-right in the NBA). ^^

I would, however, disagree with the sports/entertainment journalists who say that Brooklyn once again has a PROFESSIONAL sports team. Since Minor League Baseball is, in fact, at the pro level (as in being paid), then they were technically incorrect.

I've been past the Barclays Center at Atlantic Ave a few times, and it is a huge place. However, I don't see anything which reminds me of Ebbets Field, especially the lack of trolley cars.

Now Brooklyn gets another big league team

After over 50 years of no major league sports now Brooklyn gets a hockey team to go with the NBA. I know its still not a substitute but still
