Steve is an excellent writer and knows a lot about baseball history. He used to write regularly for The Hardball Times. I saw this book and added it to my "wish list" for Christmas. If I don't unwrap it at the end of the month, I'll probably be ordering a copy early next year. Very interested in your review.

Did you read it? I recall as a child in the 1970s Stoneham expressed deep regret at having moved out west. Curious what the book says. Also, in the late 70's there was speculation that the Giants were looking to move and New Jersey might be a landing spot. That would have made for an amazing, incredible rivalry with the Mets. Curious if the book gets into this.
History basically presents him as a stooge for Walter O'Malley and a rube for SanFran officials who wooed him.
