    It's too bad someone didn't tip off the Giants. I'm sure they would have done something special for him.

      Excellent story indeed! I knew an old guy in my bay town of Benicia and he moved out to the bay area in early 60's, soley to follow his beloved Giants. It was nice reading this story . . . seeing it the other way around.

        In 2002 I saw my first A's home game since 1953 at Shibe Park. The Twins eliminated the A's. Later that day my old team, the Giants beat the Braves, and I caught that game also.

        A few years before a cabbie in San Francisco mocked my wearing a Mets' cap because the Giants had swept them on the previous weekend. He calmed down when I asked him when his team had last been World Champions. The answer is "Never".
