Philly A's 1941-1942 righthanded pitcher, Fred Caligiuri became the oldest living major leaguer upon the death of former St. louis Browns first baseman, Chuck Stevens at the end of May. Caligiuri was 2-5 in his two years with the Athletics, his only years in the major leagues. He entered the military during World War Two in the autumn of 1942 around the time of his 24th birthday and served until 1946. Caligiuri was never able to return to the major leagues.
