  • Tim Talton

Anyone who followed Kansas City Athletics, can you give me a brief scouting report, or what you feel of former player Tim Talton?

He is one of 13 players that played in the MLB from East Carolina (also my alma mater) and I am trying to learn more about him other than the stats.

It took Talton seven-plus years in the minors before he made it up to The Show. His minor-league numbers show the catcher to be a pretty good average hitter but without all that much power. In 1962 he had 15 HRs, 101 RBIs, and a .310 average for El Paso in the Texas League. He was in the Giants system at that time.

Unfortunately, from what I've seen so far, Tim never got the benefit of a feature in the Sporting News with more detail about him as a player.

His pro career ended after the 1969 season.

I did see him pinch hit at end of 1967 season. I recall that he wore 11 and that was it. He was a scrub on a tenth-place team.
