  • Browns All-Time Team

I'm planning to play a pre-1955 baseball simulation game on DiamondMind. I creating the all-time Browns team. 2 players at each postion + 11 pitchers:

    1B > George Sisler / George McQuinn?
    2B > Del Pratt / Marty McManus
    3B > Harlond Clift / Red Kress???
SS > Bobby Wallace / Vern Stephens
OF > Ken Williams, Baby Doll Jacobson, Jack Tobin, Wally Judnich, Chet Laabs, Heinie Manush???
    C > Rick Ferrell / Hank Severeid
P > Urban Shocker, Harry Howell, Danny Galehouse, Ned Garver, Jack Kramer, Bob Muncrief, ????

Need some help to fill this out to a competitive team.

Is this based on a single-season performance or an entire career?

If it is only time with the Browns, Nelson Potter had a good run from 1943-47. Rube Waddell had a couple of good years. Wally Gerber played forever at short, although not sure he'd be better than Wallace (and certainly not better than Stephens). Dixie Davis was a pretty good starter. General Crowder had two solid seasons before being traded away. Jack Powell is another possible starter. Bob Dillinger is a possible at third (plus, Kress was really a shortstop with the Browns).

And of course, bring in Hub Pruett to face Babe Ruth.

Good luck ... the Browns will surely need it.

Harland Clift was a very good 3rd basemen and a great man off the field. Had the honor to correspond with hime for a few years before he passed away.
