    July 10: The second-oldest living major leaguer and former St. Louis Brown, Chuck Stevens turns 99 today. Among living major leaguers, only Bobby Doerr is older. (by 94 days).
    Stevens was a tall switch-hitting, lefty throwing, first baseman whose major leagues career was interrupted by military service during World War Two. Stevens hit .251 in 211 games for the Browns in 1941,1946,and 1948. Stevens was the Browns' everyday first baseman in 1946 with over 500 plate appearances.and he led American League first basemen in fielding percentage that season with a .995 mark.
