Don Mincher dead at 73 years of age.

I'm sad to report that one of my favorite Senators, Don Mincher, died March 4th of 2012.

My "namesake," Bob Saverine, turned 70 earlier this month. Last July I went up to Camden Yards (my first game there since the Nats came to DC) and was pleasantly surprised to discover the "Orioles Alumni"pregame autograph series. The three former O's that evening were Paul Blair, Wally Bunker and ex-Senator Fred Valentine! I had a nice little chat with Fred (a very gracious guy, BTW, and he seems to be in great shape) and asked him if he'd seen Saverine in recent years. He said he hadn't -- apparently the former Senators have some get-togethers but Bob hasn't shown up. I hope he's happy and in good health.

Two pitchers, Rudy Hernandez (Still living) and Hal Woodeshick (Deceased) were selected by the expansion Senators in the draft from the newly relocated Minnesota Twins and appear to have been on the roster with the "new" Senators at the start of the 1961 season.

    Rudy Hernandez career record

    Hal Woodeshick career record

One other pitcher, Hector Maestri (Still living) has the "distinction" of only appearing in 2 major league games, the first in 1960 with the original Senators on 9/24/1960, the second with the expansion Senators on 9/17/1961. He was also selected in the expansion draft but considering his late season appearance in 1961 I think we can safely assume that he wasn't on the Opening Day roster.

Just a quick question because I don't know the answer: Were there any players who played finished the season with the 1960 original Senators and then were on the Opening Day 1961 roster for the expansion Senators?

I appreciate the information, don't know how I missed that one. I've updated the list.
