  • Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew entering hospice

    Sad news from Minnesota...

This was mentioned in the "Current Events" forum but I thought it rated a mention here as well.

Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew, who started his major league career with the original Senators franchise in 1954, has entered hospice care. Killebrew is suffering from esophageal cancer.

Killebrew, one of baseball's genuine "nice guys", played for the original Senators franchise from 1954 through 1960. He'd move with the team to Minnesota in 1961 where he'd be a mainstay of the Twins lineup for the next 14 years, finishing his career with a short stint in a Kansas City Royals uniform in 1975.

"For the Washington Senators, the worst time of the year is the baseball season." Roger Kahn

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Rogers Hornsby.
